Armenia ex-President Serzh Sargsyan on peace treaty with Azerbaijan: These people don’t want the public to know

I don’t know what is written in the peace treaty. Armenia’s third President, Serzh Sargsyan, told this to reporters outside a Yerevan court Thursday—referring to the remark that, according to reports, there will be no mention of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in that peace treaty expected to be signed with Azerbaijan.

“Does anyone know what is written there? The treaty is a document that may be based on certain principles. The treaty is a document that should be studied, understood, seen. If I have not seen that document, how do I interpret that document?

“This is the working style of the [current] rulers of Armenia. Do you remember any serious agreement that was signed by Armenia before 2017 and was signed secretly? Nothing like that happened. The documents on [the normalization] Armenian-Turkish relations were publicized in advance, everyone was aware of the negotiation documents on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. These people [i.e. the incumbent Armenian authorities] don’t want the public to know,” said Armenia’s third president.

When reminded that the Armenian authorities in office accuse them of having negotiated one thing for years, but told the public something else, Serzh Sargsyan said: “Who says? They can say a lot about you, too. Is that true?”
