Armenia Parliament Opposition Leader: Karabakh Conflict is Not Over

The Karabakh conflict is not over. Seyran Ohanyan, head of the opposition Armenia Faction of the National Assembly (NA) and former defense minister of Armenia, stated this at Wednesday’s last press briefing of the year in the NA.

According to him, Azerbaijan’s criminal actions have only aggravated the problem, and Baku must bear accountability for them.

“Nagorno-Karabakh was a factor in the region, and all its institutions must continue to exist for the sake of preserving subjectivity, including by creating conditions for the return of the [Armenian] residents of Karabakh to their historical homeland,” Ohanyan said.

The Armenian opposition MP is convinced that the matter should be resolved through negotiations; moreover, either within the framework of accepted or new formats.

“There is no alternative to these negotiations,” said the former defense minister of Armenia.
