Armenian Government Allocates 10 Bn Amd for Displaced Persons From Karabakh, 8 Bn is Already Paid


Currently, there are 24,141 forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh settled in Kotayk province. Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the press secretary of Armenia’s prime minister, said at a press conference on Thursday, October 12, presenting the government’s decision to allocate money to Kotayk.

According to her, the government has already allocated 1.36 billion drams to various regional governorates of Armenia to address the primary problems of the displaced persons.

Baghdasaryan said that 10 billion drams were allocated from the state budget to pay the 100,000-dram one-time payments, of which 8 billion have already been received, and 27 billion will be allocated for house rents and utility costs for the next six months, which will amount to 38,360 billion drams.

Nazeli Baghdasaryan also informed that, the government adopted two decisions for regulations in the field of education regarding the forcibly displaced persons. The first one regulates the hiring process of teachers from Karabakh, and the second one will compensate students’ fees in Armenian universities.
