Azerbaijan and Armenia Accuse Each Other of Strengthening Combat Readiness on the Border

Armenia and Azerbaijan have accused each other of deploying troops to the border, further exacerbating tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, both rejected the accusations and said they remained committed to the peace process.

Reporting from Armenpress , Wednesday (13/9), Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan accused Azerbaijan of “increasing military posture along the Nagorno-Karabakh line and the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.”

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) also emphasized that it has no plans to carry out military escalation and is ready to continue efforts towards a peace agreement. Meanwhile, the Azerbaijani side rejected the accusations claiming that they had been provoked.

“These claims are part of another fraudulent political manipulation. “This is a military and political provocation,” said the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The two countries from the former Soviet Union have been accusing each other since failing to reach a ceasefire agreement. However, both of them have repeatedly expressed their willingness to find a peaceful solution.

They are fighting over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, an area recognized internationally as Azerbaijani territory, but occupied by Armenia. In 2020, they fought for six weeks and claimed nearly 7,000 casualties.

The war ended with a Russian-brokered ceasefire and they agreed to make peace and seek a non-military resolution to resolve the issue. But it turns out the conflict has heated up again until now.
