More Than 80 Migrants Were Detained in Moscow for Attacking a Police Car


Moscow police officers detained more than 80 foreigners who tried to prevent the arrest of a suspect, Interfax reports citing the press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry in Moscow.

According to police, on December 15, in Moscow’s Kapotnya district, when a police officer checked the driver’s documents, a 21-year-old foreign citizen tried to escape in a car, dragging the policeman several meters. After that, the young man got out of the car and hit the police officer several times.

The offender had a suspected epileptic seizure, the police officer gave him pre-hospital care and called an ambulance. The man was taken to a medical facility, from where he was released in the company of police officers.

At the same time, at the moment of rendering assistance to the detainee, the police officers were approached by more than 80 aggressive citizens, who tried to push them away from the detainee by slashing the wheels of the service vehicle.

Additional police units arrived at the scene. The police officers fired several warning shots upwards, there were no casualties from the shots.

Detained and taken to the territorial departments of 82 citizens, in respect of whom reports on administrative offenses (Art. 20.1 “Petty hooliganism”, Art. 18.8 “Violation of migration legislation” of the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations) were drawn up. The involvement of these persons in the commission of a crime is being checked, the department said.

A criminal case was opened against the motorist for the use of violence against a representative of authority (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and insulting a representative of authority (article 319 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), he was detained.

The police officer did not go to a medical institution, continued to carry out his duty, noted in the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
