Putin: I don’t think it’s in Armenia’s interest to stop membership in CIS, EAEU, CSTO

I do not think that it is in Armenia’s interest to somehow terminate membership in the CIS, EAEU, and CSTO. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this, answering the Mir television reporter’s question about the future of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), taking into account the respective positions of Armenia and Moldova.

When asked how he assesses, in general, the integration unions in the post-Soviet area, the Russian president responded as follows: “Ultimately, it is the [given] country’s choice, in all cases. As for the [recent] absence of Armenia’s prime minister at the general events [of the aforesaid organizations], we know that it is related—at least as far as we know—to Armenia’s processes and not to the desire or lack thereof to continue the work in those integration associations. Let’s see how the situation will develop.”
