Russia, Ukraine, Turkey to Hold Talks on Extending Black Sea Grain Export Initiative

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said representatives of Russia, Ukraine and Turkey will hold talks on extending the Black Sea Grain Export Initiative.

Russia’s TASS news agency reported that Akar said in an interview with the Turkish news agency (HaberTurk) on Sunday (April 30): “We continue to maintain contact with Russia and Ukraine. We agree that the representatives of Turkey, Russia and Ukraine should meet in the next few days. Vice-ministerial talks to discuss issues related to the extension of the Black Sea Grain Export Initiative.”

Earlier this week, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone call to discuss extending the Black Sea Grain Export Initiative.

Kremlin spokesman Peskov said on Friday (28th) that the terms of the initiative related to Russia had not been fulfilled and the prospect of an extension was “not very optimistic”.
