Russian FSB: U.S. Withdrawal From Afghanistan Coincides With Start of Isis Khorasan Activities

Russian Satellite News Agency, Moscow, February 21. An employee of the Russian Federal Security Service told Sputnik News Agency that the “Islamic State of Khorasan” (a branch of the “Islamic State” terrorist organization banned in Russia) is active in Afghanistan. The time coincided with the implementation of covert operations in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of US troops.

He pointed out that the “Islamic State” is moving its forces to other regions, especially

Afghanistan , after its military defeats in Syria and Iraq . According to him, the United States deliberately provokes conflicts, including in Central Asia, and therefore actively uses terrorists to achieve its geopolitical goals.

He said: “The US withdrawal coincides with the heyday of Islamic State Khorasan’s terrorist activities in Afghanistan. The withdrawal of US troops coincides with the activity of this branch structure after the defeat of the war. Washington turned to covert operations. “

The source mentioned that in 2022 alone, the group launched about 20 high-profile terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, killing more than 500 people.
