On December 11, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jayhun Bayramov met with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis during a meeting of foreign ministers of the Eastern Partnership.
AZERTAC, from the Press Service Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told AZERTAC that at the meeting, the parties exchanged views on existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece on bilateral and multilateral platforms, including future prospects, and recent events in the region.
At the meeting, Minister Jayhun Bayramov congratulated the Greek minister on his appointment. Last year, it was welcomed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Greece. The Nazis emphasized the importance of further development of bilateral relations and the importance of continuing to develop relations in all directions, including political, economic, trade, energy, agriculture, tourism, humanitarian and other fields, and expanding cooperation in accordance with the interests of our peoples.
Mutual trips and growing contacts on various platforms have been described as important in strengthening political dialogue between our countries.
The parties also reconfirmed Azerbaijan’s reliable and strategic partner in energy security, emphasizing the importance of the Southern Gas Coast, the Trans-Adriatic pipeline, and the Bulgarian Gas Interconnector in Greece.
In particular, it has expressed confidence that successful energy cooperation between the two countries will contribute to the development and stability of the region and cover other areas of mutual interest.
Minister Jayhun Bayramov briefed his colleague on the new realities in the region during the post-war era, the factors that contributed to anti-terror measures, the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the peace treaty agenda, the reconstruction and structural work in liberated areas.
At the meeting, the parties also held discussions around other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
