Ukraine Hit Two Russian Patrol Ships in the Black Sea, There is Damage – Stratcom

On the morning of September 14, Ukraine attacked two Russian patrol ships in the Black Sea. This was reported by StratCom of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

StratCom claims that the Defense Forces attacked two Russian Project 22160 corvettes in the southwestern part of the Black Sea and caused some damage to these ships.

Project 22160 patrol ships of the “Vasily Bykov” type are a series of Russian corvettes with guided missile weapons for the near and far sea zone.

After the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet had their side numbers painted over to make their identification more difficult.

Currently, the Russian fleet includes four Project 22160 corvettes – Vasily Bykov, Dmitry Rogachev, Pavel Derzhavin and Sergey Kotov.

  • On July 26, Ukrainian intelligence reported that the corvette Sergei Kotov was sent to patrol the southern part of the Black Sea.
  • As a result of  a night attack  on September 13 at the Ordzhonikidze shipyard in Sevastopol, a large Russian landing ship and a Russian Navy submarine were damaged. The GUR  claims that, with a high probability, they cannot be restored.
