Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has today met with the visiting Turkish delegation, led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan.
Following the one-on-one meeting between the two FM ministers, a meeting was held with participation of the delegations from both countries.
The meeting revolved around the prospects for the bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation agenda between the two countries, as well as the current situation in the region and the ongoing restoration and construction works carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
The sides highlighted the flourishing level of relations between the two fraternal countries which have become more fruitful and intense amid celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan and the centenary of foundation of the Republic of Türkiye in 2023.
They praised the current status of the comprehensive Azerbaijan-Turkey strategic alliance agenda, emphasizing that relations across political, economic, trade, military, defense industry, energy security, investments, humanitarian, education, culture, and various other domains have reached a historical peak. The parties also mentioned to the importance of the Shusha Declaration in this regard.
Highlighting the mutually beneficial partnership within international and regional organizations, the two FMs emphasized the importance of increasing the intensity of joint actions within the tripartite and quadripartite formats with the UN and its institutions, the Organization of Turkic States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Central Asian countries.
The ministers also touched upon the significant role of Azerbaijan-Türkiye allied relations in maintaining stability in the region, noting that a historical moment has come in the region today with the full restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided his Turkish counterpart with updates on the extensive restoration and construction projects currently underway in the recently liberated territories of Azerbaijan. Additionally, he shared details about the ongoing process of repatriating Azerbaijani citizens who were displaced due to the 30-year occupation by Armenia. The minister also discussed the latest measures taken to foster trust-building between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the region.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed appreciation for Turkey’s active engagement in the activities taking place in Azerbaijan’s recently liberated territories. The meeting also involved discussions on various bilateral, regional, and international matters of shared interest. Subsequent to the meeting, a joint press conference was held, featuring the participation of both foreign ministers.
